ASCLEPIUS (Aesculapius)

The Greek god of the healing Asclepius

was the son of the Olympian god Apollo and the beautiful mortal Coronis. Apollo used to love Coronis very much, but as soon as Coronis became pregnant, she decided to marry another young man with the name Ischis. Apollo got informed about Coronis' infidelity by his faithful servant Corax and, in his rage, he transformed Corax from white into black. Then Apollo sent his sister, Artemis burned Coronis on a funeral pyre. Meanwhile, Apollo, who was watching this scene and felt guilty of killing his unborn child, rescued the baby by cutting open the womb of the burning Coronis. Then caried the baby to the centaur Chiron who raised the baby about art of the medicine. Asclepius used snakes venom and brought people back from the death, but Hades got angry and told Zeus, Zeus struck him with a thunderbolt and Asclepius died.
Apollo got angry and killed Cyclops (thunderbolt makers) then Zeus got angry, too and condem Apollo to serve to a mortal king for a year.


In Greek mythology, Admetus was the king of Pherae in the region of Thessaly, son of Pheres. He participated in the Argonautic Expedition.
He was a fair and hospitable king; when Apollo was forced to serve under a mortal because of killing cyclops.
Apollo helped him to married Alcethis. When the Fates decided it was time for Admetus to die, Apollo intoxicated them and made them agree to keep him alive, as long as someone else would take his place. But nobody gives, only Alcethis.  Zeus pitied they and .
